Mia Brown

Membership Engagement Coordinator

Mia is a Cree-Métis woman originally from Red River (Winnipeg) and a proud member of the Manitoba Métis Federation. Since November 2024, she has served as the Membership and Engagement Coordinator with the First Nations Business Development Association (FNBDA), where she works directly with First Nations-owned development corporations and economic development offices.

In her role, Mia is passionate about connecting with both new and existing members—listening to their experiences, understanding their priorities, and identifying how FNBDA can best support and align with their goals. She thrives on relationship-building and problem-solving, and brings an adaptive, hands-on approach to advancing economic self-determination.

With over ten years of experience working alongside First Nations communities, Mia brings a strong understanding of the structural and systemic realities that shape First Nations business and governance. She began her career as a research analyst, securing funding for First Nations and collaborating with provincial governments on data collection to ensure First Nations economic interests were represented.

Mia is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and community—she’s deeply committed to amplifying voices and ensuring that First Nations are supported in leading their own economic futures.
