David was raised on Haida Gwaii and has lived in northern and north-central BC for most of his life. He has over 25 years of experience working with and for First Nation communities in BC and the Yukon. He has led initiatives in fisheries and salmon conservation, forestry, treaty research and negotiations, governance, healthcare, and education.

David has had various roles in higher education. He is a faculty member at Thompson Rivers University – Open Learning, where he teaches Communications. David is a Co-founder of Humanity Academy, a social enterprise launched with his wife Lisa in 2023. He also sits on the Board of the Bulkley Valley Research Centre and is Chair of the Research & Extension Committee.

Since joining FNBDA in 2022, David has played a pivotal role in securing funding and is currently leading the development of a microcredit program in partnership with Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. He also serves as the Regional Business Liaison for north-central and northern BC.
